Press Release: The happy chaos of the Eighties in which graffiti pioneer, calligrapher and art director Niels Shoe Meulman grew up, is long gone. The freedom for which the Dutch capital is so famous is making place for regulations, obedience and the idea of safety. Starting July 1st 2008, it is against the law to smoke in coffee shops and bars. To Meulman this is hard to digest and thus, Amsterdam’s first smoke-free weekend starts with the opening of Nosmo King, an exhibition of new work in Calligraffiti-style that addresses the issue. At Cafe De Duivel. Non-smokers also welcome.
